About Jaclyn

Jaclyn Marie has been playing and studying music since she was 5 years old. She began learning to play the piano and went on to study guitar and saxophone. She is a self-taught singer, though her Aunt and cousins played old country and bluegrass music and helped show her how it's done. At age 20 she began singing and songwriting.  Her leading early influences include easy listening of the 70s, 80s, and 90s, dynamic artists like Ani DiFranco, Violent Femmes, The Cranberries, The Cure, Radiohead, Erykah Badu, Jack White, and Old Country artists Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, & Loretta Lynn. Most recently she's been inspired by The Wood Brothers, Weezer, Motherwort, and Gillian Welch. Jaclyn Marie has played in female folk duos Seredipidess (Fort Collins, CO) and Dames Rocket (Ithaca, NY), along with Sweet Briar Rose (Philadelphia, PA), and she led her own full band before moving to New York. Recently you may have seen this otherworldly songstress with her acoustic guitar playing remote gigs in Hector, NY. She has two original, soulful albums Let It Rain (2020) and Late July (2009).  Jaclyn Marie continually expresses her heart and fire, and she’s ready to blow off the residual steam she's accrued from motherhood, patriarchy, lIfe, love, and being alive on this beautiful wild planet in her most recent punk/folk/farmer band, Motherwort.
